GLASS TOWER

Make a tower of 20 glasses – with careful concentration – on a silver serving platter supported by two additional sets of hands.
Open a bottle of champagne and pour it into the top glass until it overflows into glasses below.
Serve to audience (the tower will most likely break during the performance).

Hotel Astoria was opened on December 5, 1915. It is located next to Leipzig main station. It contained 470 guest rooms, a bar, a dance café, company rooms and several restaurants. During the Second World War, the hotel got bombed heavily, and the west and south wings had to be completely rebuilt. During GDR times, it was one of the finest hotels in the country and many official guests stayed there. Since 1996 the hotel has closed.

As an opening ceremony of “HOTEL LEIPZIG”, a walking tour of performative acts in public space in Leipzig.
